Winning Profile Athlete Inventory - WPAI
PsyMetrics is the exclusive developer of the Winning Profile Athlete Inventory (WPAI). The WPAI is a new, leading edge assessment tool specifically developed to be used during the selection (drafting) and/or development of athletes. The WPAI consists of 55 questions and takes 10-15 minutes to complete. It identifies an athlete's potential strengths and weaknesses in the following critical areas:

Athlete Selection
The WPAI is ideal for use during the recruitment or draft process of athletes at the high school, collegiate and professional levels. The WPAI provides a quick "snapshot" of an athlete's level of mental toughness and conscientiousness. Its key benefit is that it offers an objective, standardized and valid method of measuring the key psychological skills critical for athletic success. In other words, it gives you an extra competitive edge to make your recruiting decisions even stronger.

Athlete Development
The WPAI can also be used for developmental purposes. Counselors, Sport Psychologists or coaches can use the WPAI to identify an athlete's potential strengths and weakness with respect to attitudes and behavioral tendencies associated with athletic success. These strengths and weaknesses can then be addressed as part of a developmental program to assist the athlete in maximizing his/her potential.

WPAI Validation
The WPAI has been validated and normed with over 1,000 athletes. Sports included in the validation and norming efforts have been football, baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer, gymnastics, swimming/diving and more. Norms are also available for high school, collegiate and professional athletes. The WPAI Assessment Report consists of various options that allows each customer to customize their reports based on the information they need.  In addition to bar graphs depicting percentile and raw scores by dimension, additional options include a listing of question responses divided into areas of strength and areas for development, follow-up interview questions based on areas for development and a brief written description of each athlete's score by dimension.  The idea is to be able to provide the customer with options that best suit their needs.  The report can range from 1 page to 10+ pages, depending on such needs.  In addition to the standard individual report, Ranking Reports are available.  Groups of athletes can be ranked by position (e.g., quarterback, running back, linebacker) and level (i.e., high school, collegiate, semi-pro, pro).  Athletes can also be ranked by the overall WPAI score and/or by one or more specific scale dimensions.  For example, if you would like all draftees ranked by aggressiveness and self confidence, or a combination of both, it can be done.
 
 

Administration and Scoring
 The administration and scoring of the WPAI works as follows:

(1) The desired number of WPAIs are ordered from PsyMetrics.
(2) The WPAI is administered to the athlete(s).
(3) The completed WPAIs are mailed to PsyMetrics for processing.
(4) A comprehensive WPAI Assessment Report is mailed back to you.
